What is Lacé?

Lacé comes from a French word meaning ‘linked together’ and is used to describe a popular technique used in card making. By cutting, scoring and folding card in a variety of patterns, very striking and decorative designs are produced, particularly when the pattern allows for folded back card to be tucked under the previous cut.

Some cards will be ‘open’ where the pattern has been cut directly into the card and when folded back, produce an open, lacy, see through effect. The folded back parts which have been exposed will show the colour on the inside of the card.
