Chinese Flower Painting Made Easy promises to show you how to paint flowers in the classic Chinese style. Starting with how to hold and control a Chinese brush, the author builds your confidence by demonstrating the simplest brushmarks on paper before building up to more complex marks. Master just two simple brush strokes ("dots" and "long dots") and you will be able to paint a hydrangea flower and heart-shaped leaves; later, with more stroke skills acquired, you can paint magnolia flowers or the leaf stalks of peonies. The book is organised around key brush marks; first, practise the marks, then use them, along with others learnt in the previous sections, to create a flower or part of a flower. There are projects throughout showing you how to paint a whole flower with leaves and stem. At the end, the Gallery showcases entire paintings, explaining the marks and brushes used to make each one.
